ARTIST bio

After receiving her BFA in photography, Kristianne embarked on intermittent travel and mountaineering expeditions. She met her husband and they set out on a life changing adventure together. They sailed from San Diego, CA to French Polynesia and onward to Hawaii over the course of a year. Travel by sail helped her acquire a penchant for freedom. Her photography continues to be strongly influenced by her ocean voyages.

Kristianne still lives in a California surf town, and works as a commercial and fine art photographer.  When she’s not behind a lens, she’s surfing and sailing with her family and planning their next great adventure, which will surely not be on land.

ARTIST statement

Life is a journey. Every day we have the choice how we are going to explore, make connections, and define our boundaries. When we arrive at either a physical or a theoretical threshold, we must decide if we are ready to leave behind the safety of the known for the fear of the unexplored.

My photography is a gift that allows me to take a step into deeper waters. I filter life, emotions, and connections through my art. I rely on my photography to subconsciously carry me past the point of departure. Each project I am a part of takes me on a new voyage.

I work in diptychs, triptychs and 3D to give my work the depth and balance I feel represents my experience as an artist.
