We’ve spent a lot of time as a family in Cherry Cove at the West End of Catalina-jumping off the boat, rowing the dinghy, snorkeling, kayaking, paddling, free-diving, hiking. Cherry is a little gem of a cove just out and around from Two Harbors. It’s our favorite spot along with Emerald Bay. Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of sailing to Catalina, setting anchor and just living on island time. So, when my children were born I knew exactly what I wanted to share with them-our love for sailing and for spending time at anchor living on island time.
Next week my son Merrik gets to experience Cherry Cove with his graduating fifth grade classmates at a science camp there. He gets to go to the Isthmus on the “cattle boat”, hike over to Cherry Cove and spend two nights camping on land, kayaking, snorkeling, dissecting squid and numerous other cool things. The outdoor education program with Catalina Island Marine Institute seems amazing and I’m so excited for him to experience this magical place on his own terms with his friends.
