“They didn’t recognize me,” I repeat.
He stops in turn, my hand still on his arm.
“It is because they have never seen you,” he says. “I would recognize you anywhere.”
― Muriel Barbery, The Elegance of the Hedgehog
And now that I have, my photography is being recognized. Several photography sites have contacted me out of the blue to share my work with others. It is a great honor and even though it feels better than peddling my work around, I know in my heart the recognition that comes my way is because of all the hard work I have been doing to put my work out there. It is a lot of sweat and tears to get your work seen and recognized and don’t let anyone tell you that if you make really good work you can sit back and let the recognition roll in because that’s a bunch of ignorant rubbish.
I’ve only recently discovered that I’ve been making award winning work for years but since I just started publishing it and letting others see it, I am just finding out.
