Last fall we visited Oahu with family. It’s one of our favorite places to hang out. Jim and I spent almost two years living in Waikiki and every time we go back it brings back all those fantastic memories. I never posted these images from this fabulous trip-and only shared the images I took on film here.
When I was a young woman I swore I would never go to Hawaii again. I had been so many times growing up that I thought I would never need to see it again. I had a strong desire to explore more exotic and adventurous places on this earth: Tibet, India, Chile to name a few.
Since having a family, I have found that the desire to explore and discover these places has waned and I am so happy to be with my husband, kids and extended family in even the simplest places. We are currently planning to sail from San Diego to Dana Point and I simply can not wait. We will then spend a month or more living on the boat in Dana Point Harbor for a nautical staycation. We are creating amazing memories for our kids and letting them explore some of the most wonderful places close to home.
Our dream is to sail around the world but the experience of sailing up the California coast and around the Channel Islands seems so adventurous and exciting to me right now while they are still young.
