This video cracks me up beyond expression. I came across it on Blind Spot’s blog today. I have been reading Blind Spot Mag for years and still treasure some of their first issues stored at arm’s reach on my bookshelves. This video is a deadpan comedy by William Wegman and Michael Smith about being a photographer and brings back memories of my days working in the studio as a commercial photographer.
So many photographers and artists have no humor or wimsy in their images. I love a little bit of quirkiness, oddity or humor but definitely find that I would like to be able to express it even more in my personal work. I think that’s one of the main things missing for me and why I’ve been so unhappy with the work I produce in general. I was originally drawn to my husband because of his ability to express himself creatively with silly and odd imagery. I hope to get back in touch with my silliness someday.
So, I love seeing this video and it’s dry humor to remind me not to take things so seriously!!
