photography is [our deepest fear]

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be
Brilliant, Gorgeous, Talented, Fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God!

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other
people won’t feel unsure around you.

We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us!
It is not just in us, it is in everyone!

As we let our light shine, we unconsciously give to others
permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own
fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

– Marianne Williamson

I ran across this quote on the Ester Havens Photography blog today. All of her work is incredibly inspiring. I feel so fortunate to have been given a new perspective on my photographic vision and her beautiful photography has contributed to that consciousness. I spent most of my career pursuing adventure travel photography but I am so excited about what my current portrait work is contributing to my long term hopes and dreams as a photographer.

No matter where you have been in your life up until now, this can only bring good things-especially if your new path is as a photographer. Don’t discount anything you have ever done. It is all important and just multiplies the effect that your photography can have for others as a voice in this world.
